We’re raising urgent funds to help free Leqaa Kordia — a kind, peaceful Palestinian woman who’s been unjustly detained by ICE despite having a pending green card. She is a daughter, a caregiver to her U.S. citizen mother, a beloved friend of Paterson, NJ — and now, a political target.
After voluntarily turning herself in on March 13, 2025, ICE transferred her across the country to a detention center in Texas, far from her family and community. There, she is sleeping on the floor and has been denied food during Ramadan and basic religious needs in order for her to properly practice her faith. DHS has publicly smeared her, twisting her story to justify this cruelty.
Leqaa’s only “crime” is being Palestinian and voicing her opinion for advocating for a free Palestine at a protest last year. She has no criminal history. She dreams of opening a cafe one day. She is a painter, an amazing sister who helps with her siblings, She cooks for her neighbors and always expressed her love for this country along with her dreams and aspirations. She is fighting for her freedom from behind bars 1500 miles away from her home state of NJ.
Your donation will help provide her and her family with a less stressful time while she’s in detention and after she’s out. It will go towards helping with her bond, medical costs, future transportation needs, along with ample time out of the workforce with no income.
